We had a great taping session on Friday 3/26/10. It was very different as our taping experiences are becoming. First we got out of the studio again and taped in the producer, Ms. Gloria Fleming’s condo. Secondly, we were filmed by a 13 year old, Kofi Roberts. Now, he has worked on the TV show since he was 9, but this was a first for him to film the whole thing. We had one camera and so we asked him to man it and he did! We loved the outcome, his creativity and the sharpness of the image. As soon as it’s been aired in the Commonwealth and the District of Columbia…we’ll show it to you on this site.
It’s one of the things I love about being involved with the group of people on AVN – the way children are allowed to jump right in and do work on producing the show. It’s amazing what they can do when given the opportunity. And they often do it so easily. Yes, immaturity has to be dealt with, but as we stand by to guide and guard, the work gets done; they see the results and know they can do it and did. These are the future leaders. Leaders guide us in what we think about. That’s why teachers, librarians and media moguls are so important. They present the ideas that lead to our ideologies. As Kofi and the other young people that work on Africa’s Vision Network do their jobs to bring ideas to the public they will realize their power. They will also empower the world to think differently.
As you see the shows we’ve produced and continue to produce, you’ll see images send strong messages and notice how your mind changes as you view the screen. One of the comments on my Facebook page about the Women in Ministry episodes (see our Blog Archives, left margin) was that these two women, though filmed in 2002, are speaking to us today in 2010. Their words and experiences are encouraging for today’s women in ministry to the Lord God. That’s another thing about TV and the media, things are recorded, almost, for all time. Once TV shows are out there, they are there for generations. People copy them, record them, send them to others. People around the world see them and can be effected by the messages.
Its exhilarating folks, exhilarating!!!
