Yorubas Contribution to Civilization

We went back to the archives on this one folks. Dr. Brimmy Olaghere came to the studio and graced us with so much information that we had never heard before. Our director, Gloria Fleming, couldn't resist pulling this one out and dusting it off for me to put up on our blog.

I hope you enjoy it.

Blacks in the Civil War - Part 1

This year America is honoring those who fought in the American Civil War and our show, Africa's Vision Network, did a show last year getting ready for this. It was shot on location at the African American Civil War Museum in Washington D.C. A gem in the heart of D.C. that everyone should go and check out. We are grateful to Mr. Hari Jones, the museum's curator and assistant director, for always accomodating us and giving us such a wealth of knowledge.

Angolan Writer

Here's a fellow children's writer in Angola. She reminds us of a group of Africans we don't usually talk about - the Portugese speaking Africans of the Republic of Angola or Republica de Angola.

The children’s short story book entitled Palacio Cinzento, Uma Peripécia em Benguela, by the teacher Carolina Lagutorp was releasd on Thursday in Luanda.

According to her, the initiative is a response to the lack of literary production for juveniles and aims also at stimulating the habit of reading among children. The writer Kanguimbo Ananás, who presented the work, said it reflects the historic relation between Angola and Portugal and presents an imaginary and realistic world of the children in these countries.
